WHAT IF I’M NOT A PERCUSSIONIST? If you’re reading this and you’re not a percussionist, then you’re probably a music educator. You hold an important role in education and have a lot of influence on young musicians. Being a part of this project means that you will be helping expose YOUR students to the next generation of diverse percussion literature.

20 contemporary solos.

The mission

By joining this Consortium project, you will help generate a collection of 20 intermediate/advanced short solos of 3-5 minutes in length each that will provide the next generation of percussionists with a diverse and accessible set of repertoire for Vibraphone and Marimba. This collection will be perfect for any type of musician- from soloists and chamber musicians to students and educators. With a wide range of difficulty, this repertoire will serve as a bridge between the intermediate and advanced keyboard solos of our canon. The solos will vary in terms of tempo, style, technique, and instrument range (4.3 and 5-octave marimba, 3-octave vibraphone).

As educators, it is invaluable to have a diverse collection of repertoire that exposes students to a wide range of artistic voices and technical challenges. For soloists or students of any level, this collection will provide a great number of options for recital repertoire and study pieces.

As a performer and educator, I am very passionate about new music and expanding our repertoire. It is my greatest joy to invite you to this project!
